Young Minds = Orca Orca
I am officially changing my moniker from Young Minds to Orca Orca.
As I hinted at recently, there have been far too many “Young” band names that have popped up in the past year and I want to distance myself from this trend. Last fall I posted a few demos on bandcamp so that I could listen to them at work and figure out what to do with the mixes. I ended up using a song title from one of my previous projects as the band name and within days I began hearing from people that “loved my EP” and wanted to know more about “Young Minds”. Imago Demos was just a collection of demos, not an EP, and I instantly loathed the idea of being referred to as “Young Minds”. However this being the first time that my music has ever been listened to by anyone other than my close friends, I went with it.
Fast forward one year and a few PR lessons later, I am now ready to make the change. I can’t say that there’s a ton of meaning behind the name Orca Orca other than my love for Killer Whales (which I mentioned in this interview) and I kinda just like how it sounds.
The first Orca Orca release will be Change of Pace b/w Get Up (Get Out) 7” and is out now digitally for free download » HERE«
